COVID 19 APPLICATION LAUNCHED
Maseru, Apr. 08 -- The Ministry of Health has launched mobile application (App) named ''Citizen App Lesotho'' which aims to track a persons information about the COVID 19 vaccination, the launch was held in Maseru on Friday.
In his remarks, the Minister of Health Mr. Semano Sekatle said that is a free application for mobile phones, it helps to protect each other and show the spread of the COVID 129 pandemic in Lesotho.
He said the usage of the app with existing public health measures will help all to stay safe when they meet up being at work, travelling, socializing, he confirmed that the app is able to scan the barcode and the identity document so that all the information about a person regarding the COVID 19 is always readily available.
The Minster further indicated that the app will be accessible to people who are vaccinated only, he added that most of people vaccinated but were not given vaccination certificates due to numerous reasons therefore, they must report themselves at nearby vaccination points to be assisted.
Apart from that, he mentioned that there are Basotho who work in South Africa (SA) who vaccinated in Lesotho during the Christmas holidays and such Basotho are requested to go to borders to get barcode stickers for their vaccination cards.
Mr. Sekatle noted that SA citizens are also allowed to enter Lesotho using their vaccination cards, if they do not have them they will continue to produce the PCR tests to proof that they are negative.
The Managing Director of Tafari Capital company that introduced the app Dr. Thabo Lehlokoe said the app is user friendly and verification of the vaccine certificate feature is optimized for mobile devices.
He said the app is ''world class app'' because few countries are using it and it has proofed to be the best app in the world in tracking the COVID 19, he said it has opened the market as economic activities have started to run smoothly.
He said the his company is presenting the app to the government of Lesotho for free as the token of appreciation by having Basotho team which work excellently in the company and has shown dedication in their work.
He thanked the ministry for giving them a chance to do what they thought was best for Basotho, he said they are committed in extending their hand whenever there is a need.
