Fully owned by the Government of Lesotho, the Ultimate Radio is the English service of the Lesotho National Broadcasting Service (LNBS). Its history and establishment dates to as far back as May 9th, 2006 through a dream of the then Minister of Communications, Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane. With just four (4) permanent staff members who were all transferred from Radio Lesotho, the radio station was launched as a trendy youth oriented commercial station.

In the face of a lot of skepticism regarding the viability of the project, using the Radio Lesotho studios the team quickly engaged twelve talented youth on temporary contracts and this changed the route of radio in Lesotho. The idea behind the Ultimate Radio was to attract the youth market which was seemingly sidelined by Radio Lesotho which was until then the only government controlled radio station. The only way this could be best achieved was to put the youth in the driver’s seat.

Sixteen years later, the Station prides itself as a household name synonymous to young, ambitious and imaginative young Basotho who are searching for new ways to improve their lives and their communities so that they are able to lead successful and rewarding lives.
